“As a child growing up in a family that spent time on public assistance, I know what it means to struggle to afford life’s essentials: housing, food, healthcare and childcare. As a public servant I have made it my mission to put the needs and concerns of our most vulnerable communities first. As the next Congressman of the 7th District, I will utilize my thirteen years of experience in Washington, D.C. to leverage resources and be a strong voice for the residents of our district.
I will fight to restore the Trump administration’s cuts to Medicaid and will move aggressively to protect Medicare and Social Security. I will also continue my passionate efforts to fight gun violence in our neighborhoods and invest in public safety.”

Meet Richard
Richard Boykin was born in Jackson, Mississippi and raised in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood. He attended Chicago Vocational High School and accepted an athletic scholarship to Central State University in Ohio, graduating magna Cum Laude before earning a law degree from the University of Dayton.
